My entry for the Outcast Odyssey Contest.
I was going for a sort of Polynesian-meets-Atlantean feel. The idea is that her tattoos and her eyes begin to glow blue as her powers get stronger. Clouds are beginning to form in the background to show her gathering strength. I think she would have control over waves and sea creatures (birds included) as well. I wanted her to wear only white to represent clouds and sea foam.
I used my own photograph as a reference for the water:
